The Yoga Kids Camp

Yoga Camp in the countryside, 35 minutes from Barcelona. With certified school teachers and yoga teachers, with Waldorf inspired education. There will be morning yoga, delicious vegetarian meals, karma yoga and English activities every day.

We work with reduced groups, there are up to 21 spots, keeping a family atmosphere. The days go by rather quickly We start the day with 1 hour of yoga and than a fine breakfast where they all collaborate and setting and cleaning up. After breakfast, we have indoor activities with more yoga, acroyoga and theatre, and right before lunch, we have outdoor trapeze class! Lunchtime arrives and we all gather again for food. Then they have some free time after lunch when they usually get into board games, arts & crafts or card games. Every afternoon we start with some journaling time. They all make their own journal where they reflect about themselves, their lives and the days at the kids camp. This is also the time when we talk about philosophical and self-awareness topics (who am I? What are my qualities? What can I offer to the world? What is mind concentration? what is the difference between feelings and emotions? how do I react to other people, etc...)

The afternoon is mostly physical works with bioconstruction projects involving wood, canes, hammers, nails and saws. Along with some more refined manual work with arts & crafts projects such as masks, dream catchers, painting, clay modeling, etc.

After this hard work, it is POOl time!! They spend a good hour in the pool, cooling down, playing and having lots of fun!. The last activity of the day is the one hour of Karmayoga. Is an hour where we split into small groups and we take care of the house by cleaning, preparing food, taking care of the vegetable garden and decorating the yoga hall for the next day.

Dinner times is rather special for we eat outside and we can contemplate the beautiful sunset every day. After dinner, we might go for a walk or play some night games. The children are involved in the everyday chores such as putting the table, washing dishes, cleaning the house and watering the vegetables. They experience what it is to take responsibility within a small community and to help each other in their chores.

Before falling asleep we have a group meditation to think about the day that we just lived and we sing ourselves to sleep. Tomorrow awaits with a day full of activities and joy, once again.

The Venue

Omshanti is a family-based retreat center in the countryside. We are in a top of a hill, with fantastic views where children have enough space to run and play within an enclosed and safe environment. The yoga hall is 144m2, a perfect space to do yoga, meditation, AcroYoga, dance, theatre, massage and any kind of physical activity.

The house has a big kitchen where they help out once a day and a big dining room where we can eat all together. For dinner, we usually sit outside in the picnic tables witnessing the sunset as we finish up the day. The rooms are shared dorms with bunk beds.

The outdoor space is big and full of different corners to explore. In front of the house, there's some grass covered by two nice trees that give shed all day, it's the freshest part of the garden. The backyard is a big grass area to play ball, group games or just lay down and look at the sky. The pool is big and wide but also very shallow, so they all touch the bottom on both ends of the pool. It's the best plan to refresh the hot afternoon hours.

There is also a little forest where there is shade all day and it's perfect to write in the diary or just play hide and seek. And there is a vegetable garden where they take time every day to water and take care of.
